Zahedi dates are one of the famous and delicious kinds of dates from Iran, which can be said to have the highest export compared to production among all types of dates in Iran. Due to their good appearance and taste, Zahedi dates have many lovers and enthusiasts in the world, and their number is increasing day by day. This type of date is divided into different categories depending on the size, humidity, and harvest time. These dates are more in demand because they can be easily stored in the warehouse and it is easier to transport. This date has a low price among all types of dates and is one of the most economical dates.
The appearance of Zahedi dates
Zahedi dates have an oval and short shape that narrows at the end. The average size of these dates is between 3 and 5 cm. The weight of each date is about 10 to 15 grams. Ripe dates are golden and chocolate brown. The color of their flesh is yellow or golden. The skin of these dates is relatively soft and shiny and attached to their flesh. these dates are dry and their moisture is about 13%.
Flowering & Harvesting
Zahedi dates are usually harvested from August to September. Based on this time, this type of date is one of the kinds that ripen later.
Cultivation Site
These dates are produced in different regions of the southern and southwestern provinces of Iran.
- The most important cities producing this type are Qir and Karzin,
- Farashband, Kazeroon, Firouzabad, and Lar in Fars province;
- Pashtkouh and Borazjan plains in Bushehr province;
- Jahrom and Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province;
- Ahvaz and Khorramshahr in Khuzestan province; and Ghasre Shirin City in Kermanshah province.
Export
Arab countries show interest in these dates and are among the buyers of these dates. Along with Arab countries, African countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan are buyers of this type of date. Of course, the buyers of Zahedi dates are not only limited to these countries and the list of buyers and importers is much more than this.
